E6 -What is it that you could never say (but you need to)?
Objective: To work on processing stored emotions by designing a postcard about a situation that the student feels he/she has yet to resolve, although he/she will not necessarily send or show this postcard.
Description: Very often what is said by the word is expressed through an illness. As Karl Menninger used to say, "We say it with symptoms."
In order not to express emotions and even to hide them from oneself, we slow down breathing and contract the body, thus appearing the muscular armor. Processes well studied by Wilhelm Reich who coined the term muscular armor. Daniel Goleman on the other hand indicates that research on communication has shown that more than 90% of the emotional messages we transmit are of non-verbal nature, corresponding to the tone of voice, gestures, posture, etc. (Goleman, 1998). Therefore, it is important to encourage students the habit of saying things or expressing them in some way in order to have them out of themselves.
For this postcard, material will be provided and each student can use it in any way he/she likes. The student will be free to design his or her postcard using whatever materials he or she wishes and can write his or her message. The student should be directed to make this activity an alternative for emotional release caused by a stressful situation.
Closing: The reflection of this activity lies in the importance of expressing feelings suppressed by various sociocultural factors external to the student. The release of repressed emotions gives way to a sense of well-being, as well as allows the entry of new thoughts and positive attitudes.
